What about a how-to site for surviving in the outdoors, or a how-to for minimalist living. If you think in this way, there are a lot of different directions you can go, you still have a lot of room to grow, and it will be manageable to build on your own or with just a small team.

Love to read those kind of articles, on how the big adsense earner pull that off. It will be very educational and inspirational. Please take them coming. You mentioned that Demand Media is wring for cheap on google trends, how do they do that? Cool, thanks for the feedback Richard. They use their own algorithm for figuring out the value of keywords, then buy articles for cheap, and use their domain authority to rank for it instantly.
Yea, I like these kinds of posts. It gives me a perspective of what I have been doing the past 2 years. This post, couple with the training inside of your niche site course has given me an idea for the kind of site to build. Fascinating insight into Wikihow and ehow. However, you have not elaborated on how much they are earning from Adsense approximates of course and what are their operating costs. Not sure how the title about Million dollar adsense site has been covered in the post.
This is really a wake up call Chris, A very inspiring story indeed. Most of the other guys always advise us to go tiny, to go after sub-niches with lower competition so that it will be easy to rank for the keywords but i believe that if you can create something that is good enough then, it will only take you sometime before you start beating your competitors. Thank you Chris, this was a very interesting article. My big takeaway? Thanks for reading, Diane.
It inspired me to think a bit differently about my blogs. What happened to the employees and the VC funding after jack took over ehow? Great article btw!
Awesome article Chris! I would think them as the competitors in the same niche. Thanks for the share! After so many years now i know the truth of these both websites. Thank you for sharing this great story of great person.. Thanks for sharing about eHow and WikiHow… informative article, i thot these two are competitors but after reading article only i came to know both are started by same person.
Awesome article…great to hear how he recognized eHow for what it was becoming and got out. Kudos to him and his success and thank you for sharing the detailed analysis. Please do follow up with the demandmedia piece…I think there is a story there. Hey Jon, thanks. Will be sharing my findings shortly. Fantastic article! How long does it take you? I see a long road ahead of me. While I do enjoy writing, sometimes I find it difficult to come up with good ideas to write about.
Any suggestions? Thanks Tony. For me, I only spend a lot of time on posts that are targeting the biggest keywords. They take me at least 2 hours, usually a lot longer as I spread them out over a few days rather than work on it at once. Or a site with travel tips and more static items like resorts in place or X 35 X accomodation in place …. I like the way you write articles and this is another great one.
Thank you for this article and keep up the good work. Wow…I am a very big fan of Jack Herrick. Nice story…Hard work is always the key to success.
Great post, I think it is the result of greater hard work! It has given a good inspiration. Thanks for this great article. I enjoyed reading it. I was inspired and get motivated. But, now am earning a decent amount from another website. Undoubtedly an astonishing article. And I would say, Chris, you did a fabulous job in organizing and covering every bit of the WikiHow and its growth progression.
I am just in love with your blog. As a new blogger i have long term views and i will definitely work hard. It was really inspiring and I would really admit that this is one of the finest stuff that I came across today. Well, I actually did not know that eHow and WikiHow were once own by the same guy.
It is incredible to know these stories, and it is incredible that the world of blogs has grown so much and in turn has been as old as the web. Sometimes it becomes difficult to make big in this industry but nevertheless it is motivating to start with something. This was give me a lot inspire. Strong Mindset is very important.
Help people first and people will help you back soon. Thank you Chris. Highly motivated right now. More blessings for you for this. I learnt from this and if you just to know I had to read up to 5 other blogs because they were. It really a motivation to me. Recognizing that the eHow model wasn't going to help build a complete how-to manual, Jack and Josh sold eHow to Demand Media on May 1, The transaction helped fund wikiHow and also allowed wikiHow to become independent from eHow's constraints. After wikiHow became independent, DemandMedia started allowing user contributions at eHow.
Despite similar-sounding names, eHow and wikiHow are quite different: Unlike wikiHow, eHow is not a wiki, nor is it Creative Commons licensed, nor is it run on freely shared open-source software, nor is it essentially governed and managed by its community. Josh is also not actively involved with wikiHow, but we continue to appreciate his financial contributions that made wikiHow possible.
Imagine if everyone on Earth had an expert coach who could teach them how to do anything.
