It appears to be an official website. Could you confirm? So some clarity: back in the 90s Acuvue 2 did originally get approval for overnight wear from the FDA for weekly disposal. The FDA cannot retroactively go back and change this, but the lens would not meet requirements for today's standards.
Hope that makes sense -- we have to treat these lenses with the new information we have about them because 25 years ago we didn't know all the dangers. Which lenses would you recommend for those that get a lot of buildup very very quickly with the Oasys type lenses? I like Acuvue 2 for depositors as long as the eye is healthy enough and the patient is willing to take care of the lens properly no sleeping in, 2 week disposal.
Daily disposable options are great for patients with deposit issues and very safe from a health standpoint since there is no repeated exposure to bacteria on the lens. Late to the feed, but wore acuvue2 for years. Apparently have neovascularization now and switched to dailies, but have buildup within hours. Wow buildup in dailies; you're a tough case! I'm guessing you are in a daily lens with a high amount of exposed surface silicone like Clariti 1-day or Acuvue Trueye.
Silicone makes the contact lens more breathable essential if you have neovascularization , but can also attract a lot of lipid based deposits. Lenses like Dailies Total 1 or MyDay would fit the bill. Hope that helps!
While our eyes are closed, the blood vessels in the back of the eyelids supply the oxygen. So, the oxygen permeability of the contact lens is still important :. I wear the acuvue 2 and yes they are comfortable. They are getting harder to find though. I tried a different lens and it moved non stop, so I tried another and my vision was always blurry. What can I do to get better lens for my eye and be able to see. Acuvue 1Day Moist is made out of the same material as Acuvue 2, so it's a perfect way to transition to safer lens wear without giving up the fit and material you love!
Acuvue moist have different sizes than acuvue 2. How do you feel about acuvue vita. I usualy dont wear my contacts all day and just for 2 or 3 days a week and i never wore them overnight. Plus i disinfect them everyday. I got the acuvue 2 lenses the other day as i have very dry eyes, but can i wear them for a month the way i do? Or does it have to be just 2 weeks even if i didnt wear them daily? They are only FDA approved for up to 2 weeks of wear from the time you open the packaging.
H have been wearing the Acuvue 2 lenses for several decades now. From the very start I have worn them day and night for two weeks at a time. I take them out for a day or two and start over with a new set.
They are extremely easy to handle and put in and take out of the eye with ease. The lenses have been improved a lot over time and now have great "memory" so it is extremely rare that they are inside out.
My eye sight has actually improved during the time I have used them. I have to mark my calendar to remind me to take them out they are so comfortable. A previous optometrist several decades ago suggested "mono vision".
No more reading glasses for me. I am sooooo grateful to him. He changed my life! That was a horrible experience. Nooooo way for me. Anybody reccommend a monthly contact to place the acuvue 2? My left eye I have found a couple different that work well, but my right nothing. They are either to tight can barely get them off or vison not near as good. I would like to be able to wear monthlys in both eyes for convienence. Have you tried the monthly Acuvue Vita?
It has been a very comfortable lens for many patients in my practice that liked Acuvue 2. Eyedolatry does not provide personal medical advice; we encourage you to schedule with a doctor. The Air Optix Aqua lenses made by Alcon, Biofinity lenses made by CooperVision, and the Acuvue Oasys lenses made by Vistakon all have FDA approval for six nights of continuous extended wear before they should be removed and left out overnight.
These lenses are a good option for people who usually take their lenses out at night, but sometimes forget. If the lenses are still fresh, they should be safe to use again after soaking in solution overnight. If your eye is a little irritated or dry, use some artificial tears or lubricating drops. If you experience pain, light sensitivity, blurred vision or extreme eye redness after sleeping in them, be sure to contact your eye doctor right away. This article really helped a lot because most times when am too tired to remove them and sleepy I have to force my self.
These contacts are not meant to be slept in overnight. Are Acuvue Oasys monthly or biweekly? Oasys is biweekly. Acuvue Oasys is a bi-weekly lens. The tech who trained you was incorrect in telling you it was monthly. Can you take daily contacts out and put them back in? Optician's answer. Once your contact lens has been taken out of its blister packet, the solution it arrived in is no longer sterile and cannot be used to store or disinfect your lenses. Daily lenses should be one use only; they should be discarded once you've removed them from your eye and should not be reused.
Can I nap in daily contacts? Never Sleep in Your Contacts Just as wearing your contacts too long can lead to problems, so can sleeping in them. If you sleep with your contacts overnight, or take a nap in them, you may experience eye irritation. This may also mean your eyes can get swollen, which is something that you should avoid.
Can I put contact solution in my eye? If you are in a pinch and there is something in your eye or your eye really hurts and you need to flush it out, most contact lens solutions are safe these days. In the long term with repeated use, the preservatives will irritate your eyes and they will not get dry eye relief like they would feel from artificial tears.
Can I take a 20 minute nap with contacts in? If you just take a short nap for less than 20 minutes, you can wear your contacts. If not, you'd better take them off because of the impermeability to oxygen. This may because you feel dry in eyes after you wake up. If you often do this, it may cause your eyes to get red which may easily get infection.
